What are different from regular dynamo and USB charger?
Many people might buy a USB charger converter to connect to hub dynamo, and here are some problems :
1. Hub dynamo has lower power because the original design was for the halogen headlight.
2. Hub dynamo unable to provide enough power to USB charger and headlight at same time because it’s only 3 watts.
3. The waterproof rating may be poor of hub dynamo and USB charger combination.
4. You have to buy a hub dynamo and USB charger separately instead of once. The F12W-PRO integrated the functions altogether.
Charging time is one time faster than hub dynamo
SPINUP F12W-PRO USB charger provides 5W output, compare to hub dynamo with USB chager on the market only provides 2.5W output.
The basic output of a dynamo hub is 500mah and so is the output of the plug on the USB port. Most modern smartphones require 1000mah or more to be able to charge properly.
If your smart phone has a 3000mah battery, at a rate of 500mA per hour from regular dynamo hub (cycling speed ~20km/h), plus a 20% loss in the charging circuitry, it takes about 7.2 hours to fill up. If using F12W-PRO to charge at a rate of 1000mA per hour, it only takes about 3.6 hours to fill up a 3000mah battery.

Auto low resistance mode

I think the system is pretty well designed and a nice take on the dynamo design. The whole system works great and the best part is that the wheels need not be rebuilt. The team working at SunUp Eco seem to be a really friendly and are great to communicate with. They seemingly appreciate the lifestyle of power hungry Bicycle Tourists and have designed a high quality product that works well when put thro the rigours of touring.
We soon realise it was the best option for a dynamo: the most efficient and one that can be adapted on any hub. We were also happy to work with this small company and were really impressed by their professionalism and devotion. And then, the numbers just speak by themselves, we have been cycling 50,000 km with this dynamo. It is really strong and we could always recharge our power bank under all weather, torrential rain, negative temperature, desert heat.
